Story of cxful design system: The launch

We're finally ready to share what we've built and been using internally for the last 1 year - cxful design system is open for you to explore (in beta)

After designing 1000+ websites over the last 10+ years, we've seen every hurdle that comes across a designer and a company. As part of our research, we tried every tool out there. But guess what, tools don't solve problems, tools can only enable you to solve the problems.

We’ve used Figma to build our design system, but we’ve built it with the approach of being tool-agnostic. Tomorrow if Figma dies (we hope not, we love you Figma! ❤️‍), and Sigma comes in (hypothetical company), the foundation of your design system will not change with cxful. You will be able to adapt to the new tools quickly without any discomfort.

But, it’s not about the design system.

There are a lot of design systems out there, and we appreciate most of them.

cxful is more about the method and approach of building a functional website, using any design system. cxful’s own design system is one example of it.

cxful takes the approach of building websites for a purpose, where each page has its own function. Not taking the website as a secondary activity where some landing pages are put together using random left-right-center sections and making it look beautiful.

Today, practically every other website looks the same, looks nice no doubt. The customer experience on most websites is absurd - it’s confusing, not easy, and hits the revenue hard. Customers don't engage on these beautiful-only websites!

To solve these problems, we built the cxful design system. We used it for our client projects for 1 year while also making it more organized on-the-go.

• It's engagement-first. Instead of randomly using left-right-center sections to design a website, cxful advocates designing each website page for a purpose. The inherent architecture of the cxful design system focuses on "what" to build to engage the users. You will see some examples under the Experience Pages section of our design system.

• It's built for headless. cxful DS can be fully implemented on headless websites, so that you can scale your designs across channels, platforms and devices seamlessly.

• It's clutter-free. There are no unnecessary items just to say that we have the largest library of components and blocks. You, being a designer, can design websites pulling anything out of your imagination. cxful simply enables you to focus on the purpose of your design and materializing it in the most efficient way possible.

• It's easy to use. Design systems need to be less complicated. cxful does that with super optimized base elements and base components. The learning curve here is practically not a curve!

Our focus with cxful is that designers must stop designing just good-looking pages and stop talking about "how" to design using a certain tool. Instead, they must focus their attention on "what" to design.

Enough of “build fast-loading websites”

Enough of random left-right-center sections to build a website!

Nobody’s talking about “what” to build. Let’s come together to start a conversation in that direction! Your clients deserve that. Don’t they?

Once this transformation happens, a designer will never depend upon a tool, but learn to think in the direction of what can make the customer experience amazing. And that will lead to functional and useful websites that look pleasing to the eyes and the mind. And that’s how you build an engagement-first website experience like a pro.

Time to share some additional information I shouldn’t miss -

Numerous major updates are already lined up on our team’s calendars for the year and after. Keep and eye out on the Roadmap to every minor and major update rolling out regularly. This is to share our commitment towards our work, and respecting the designers who use cxful everyday to design magic for their clients and companies.

Also, we’ve decided to never ask for additional penny from the existing users whenever there’s a price change happening because of new major value additions. All existing users will technically be locking in the price for themselves forever, while getting full access to every new transformation for the lifetime. Before launching cxful for the public, we also built custom design systems for certain companies that value useful design at their core. Those companies believe that their website is at the centre of their customer engagement journey, and not a sidekick that can be pushed to the backseat.
